blended best of both worlds!

STEM

At Little Giants, we believe introducing STEM early on can help to foster a life-long love of learning and help children perform better in school.

  • Little Giants believe that STEM learning is essential for children's development, as it helps them develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Our curriculum is designed to introduce children to the basic concepts of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in a fun and engaging way.

For our youngest children, aged 3 months to 2 years, we focus on sensory exploration and discovery. We provide a range of materials and experiences that encourage babies to explore their environment and learn through their senses. We also incorporate basic STEM concepts, such as cause and effect, into our daily activities.

For our toddlers, aged 2 to 3 years, we introduce more structured STEM learning opportunities. We provide hands-on experiences with simple machines, such as pulleys and levers, and engage children in simple experiments to introduce basic scientific concepts. We also incorporate technology into our learning, using age-appropriate educational apps and tools to support children's learning.

For our preschoolers, aged 3 to 5 years, we offer a more advanced STEM curriculum. We introduce more complex scientific concepts, such as physics and chemistry, and engage children in more in-depth experiments and investigations. We also provide opportunities for children to learn about coding and robotics, using simple unplugged coding tools and programmable robots.

Throughout our STEM curriculum, we emphasise the importance of inquiry-based learning and encourage children to ask questions, explore, and discover. We also incorporate literacy and numeracy skills into our STEM learning, helping children develop a holistic understanding of the world around them.

Montessori

A Montessori blended curriculum can help children deepen their learning of different subjects and provide opportunities for obtaining a sense of self-reliance and independence.

  • Little Giants recognise the value of incorporating elements of Montessori teaching into our STEM-focused curriculum. The Montessori approach emphasises hands-on learning, self-directed exploration, and individualised instruction, which are all highly compatible with STEM learning.

Incorporating Montessori principles into our STEM curriculum means that we prioritise children's individual needs and interests, allowing them to learn at their own pace and in their own unique way. We also provide a prepared environment with carefully curated materials that promote exploration and discovery.

    Our Montessori-inspired STEM curriculum includes:

Hands-on Learning: We provide a range of materials and experiences that encourage children to explore their environment and learn through their senses. We offer manipulatives, puzzles, and other hands-on materials that promote problem-solving and critical thinking.

Self-Directed Exploration: We encourage children to explore their interests and passions through self-directed learning experiences. We provide a variety of STEM-related materials and resources, that children can access on their own.

Individualised Instruction: We recognise that each child has their own unique learning style and pace. We provide individualised instruction and support to help children succeed in their learning goals.

Prepared Environment: We create a carefully curated environment that promotes exploration and discovery. We provide a range of materials and tools that are easily accessible to children and that are designed to promote learning and growth.

Overall, our Montessori-inspired STEM curriculum offers a child-centred approach to learning that prioritises exploration, discovery, and individualised instruction. We believe that this approach helps children develop a love of learning and a passion for STEM that will last a lifetime.
